SINDISWA MAHLANGU

About

Sindiswa Mahlangu is an MSc candidate in Biochemistry at the University of Johannesburg, under the supervision of Dr Mhlongo. Born in the East Rand of Johannesburg, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany and Biochemistry from the University of Johannesburg. Her curiosity about technology led her to pursue and complete an NQF 5 qualification in Information Technology (Software Development), sparking a deep interest in data-driven research. Her academic journey came full circle when she realised the potential of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) to bridge her passion for Life Sciences with computational approaches. This motivated her to pursue and complete a BSc Honours in Biochemistry, further cementing her expertise in computational biology and data analysis. Her research focuses on utilising large-scale metabolomic data to profile and compare selected Artemisia species, with applications in natural product discovery. She is particularly interested in computational approaches to biological data, leveraging advanced analytical techniques to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets. Beyond her research, Sindiswa is passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration, bridging the gap between biological sciences and computational technologies.
